Launching later in 2026, the Observatory is being established by a group of organizations with deep involvement and expertise in dryland and pastoralist resilience and prosperity, particularly in the Horn of Africa.
Through an iterative process, the group is refining its vision and mission, outlining a theory of change, and setting out specific intervention areas. These include evidence generation and research, convening and dialogue, capacity development and advocacy for more positive and balanced narratives around pastoralism.
